A professional teeth whitening or bleaching is a popular treatment that gives the teeth a brilliant white again. The use of a chemically activated hydrogen peroxide gel during the treatment removes stubborn discoloration, which is caused, for example, by the consumption of black or green tea, coffee or tobacco. The peroxides discolor the color molecules that are trapped in the tooth structure without changing the tooth structure. If the teeth are crowned or there are many fillings on the teeth, especially in the front, it must be clarified whether the bleaching can be successful. The direct - or chair side bleaching - achieves an immediately visible result in a one-hour treatment in our practice. The teeth are whitened at least two to many shades, the differences result from the structure of the tooth enamel. In order to keep the teeth lighter in the long term, we recommend home bleaching with splints after direct bleaching. Here the patient gets individually adapted splints with which he can apply the whitening product himself at home. If the desired result is achieved, the patient can stop the therapy at any time.
If the patient wants to repeat the bleaching at a later point in time, they can use the existing splints and purchase the product directly from us in our practice. We advise against various freely commercially available agents because, as mentioned, prior clarification is essential to avoid irreparable damage to your teeth.
Veneers / Ceramic shells
In recent years, aesthetic changes using veneers have grown in popularity enormously. It is the method preferred by many movie stars to get an aesthetic result over the long term. The veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells that are permanently applied to the teeth to correct the shape, color and position of the teeth. The advantage is that the teeth then have a completely natural appearance, because the veneers, done correctly, absolutely imitate the natural tooth.
Depending on the extent of the desired correction, your teeth only need to be ground a little or not at all.
